Pete Hegseth on the Border: Trump Signed 2 Executive Orders that Go Into Effect

AENN

By Paul Preston

"This assault on the American people and the integrity of America’s sovereign borders represents a grave threat to our Nation." Presidential Executive Order January 20, 2025.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth visited the border to show support for the United States "troops" who are now guarding the border from Texas to California. President Trump signed on January 20, 2025 an Executive Order declaring an Emergency at the southern border with Mexico. A narrow, 60-foot-deep strip at the border within the Roosevelt Reservation would became a 'military installation'.

Watch Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth at the border below.

The Roosevelt Reservation covers California, New Mexico and Arizona and was designated as federal land by Theodore Roosevelt in 1907 to keep the border secure.

The federal land, which consists of a narrow, 60-foot-deep strip at the border within the Roosevelt Reservation, would become a "military installation" designated as "National Defense Areas" where "military activities" would occur.

From the opening lines of the January 20, 2025 Executive Order:

"By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby proclaim:

America’s sovereignty is under attack.  Our southern border is overrun by cartels, criminal gangs, known terrorists, human traffickers, smugglers, unvetted military-age males from foreign adversaries, and illicit narcotics that harm Americans, including America.

This invasion has caused widespread chaos and suffering in our country over the last 4 years.  It has led to the horrific and inexcusable murders of many innocent American citizens, including women and children, at the hands of illegal aliens.  Foreign criminal gangs and cartels have begun seizing control of parts of cities, attacking our most vulnerable citizens, and terrorizing Americans beyond the control of local law enforcement.  Cartels control vast territories just south of our southern border, effectively controlling who can and cannot travel to the United States from Mexico. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have tragically died from drug overdoses because of the illicit narcotics that have flowed across the southern border."

From the opening lines of the January 22, 2025 Executive Order:

INVOKING A NATIONAL EMERGENCY: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order invoking the National Emergencies Act regarding the crisis at the Southern Border of the United States.

  • The Executive Order declares a national emergency at the southern border following four years of record-shattering illegal immigration into the U.S.

  • It directs the Secretary of Defense to deploy additional personnel to the border, including members of the Armed Forces and the National Guard.

  • Additionally, it directs the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security to finish the wall along the southern border and ensures that DHS has all the flexibility it needs to operate air missions near the border.

TAKING BACK CONTROL: For the past four years, the federal government has abdicated its responsibility to enforce the border, resulting in a catastrophic immigration crisis for the United States.
